Filter System Maintenance
Garden water filters remove chlorine, make water healthy for plants
The great advantage of garden water filters is that they completely de-chlorinate the water. The de-chlorination is important because chlorine kills the fungi and bacteria that are good for the plants. Even useful insects like ladybugs and certain nematodes are also killed by chlorine.
This is not the only advantage of garden filters. The filter has a non-toxic mix of copper and zinc, which can be replaced easily. Therefore, the water that comes out of your hose pipe does not upset the fragile eco-balance of your soil.
These filters are also good for sprinklers or kiddie pools, especially if you want your kids to splash in clean water minus the chlorine. They are also useful for filling water bodies like water gardens and artificial ponds. The water is clean and does not let off any odor, and can be used to keep fish or water plants.
A good garden filter can clean 20,000 to 40,000 gallons of water. This is a fairly large volume of water, and the gardener need not check the replacement filter every second or third day. However, the gardener must make sure that the filter is changed after eight to ten weeks depending on the make or model of the filter.
A good thing about garden filters is that they don’t need any special skills to operate. Even the old filter can be removed with a minimum of fuss. Almost all garden filters are quite hardy and can withstand pressures of up to 100psi.
They also come with a specially designed hose protector. This feature makes sure that the hose pipe does not get damaged or frayed. There is therefore no leakage of water or the formation of muddy puddles around the filter.
So, if you want your plants to breathe easy use garden filters. There will be no loss of minerals and all useful micro organisms can survive.
