About Electric Water Filter

The electric water filters are not very popular. This is because of three reasons: one, they take a long time to filter the water; two, they filter a small amount of water at a time; and three, they consume a large amount of electricity. These are serious disadvantages, and most people avoid buying electric filters.

The filter mechanism, however, is simple, and is based on the principle of heating water to remove impurities. The user is required to place a certain amount of water in the filter tank which is then connected to a water source. The power is switched off once the water boils. The cool water is then drained into another tank, leaving the impurities behind.

The electric filtration has two advantages. One, it gets rid of all impurities; and two, it kills all microorganisms. However, the user has to wait for the water to cool down before transferring it into jugs or bottles.

An electric water filter is useful for those users who do not have a running water supply but have an electrical connection. They can use the electric water filter to boil water withdrawn from wells or streams, and be sure of obtaining clean and hygienic water.

Another advantage of electric filter is that there are no filter candles or cartridges to replace. The most that a user needs to do is to replace the heating element. However, he needs to do this only when the heating element stops working. This can happen once in two or three years. In contrast, the cartridges or candles used in non-electric water filters
have a limited life. They cannot be used beyond a certain point.

However, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. That is why most Americans prefer to install non-electric filters in their homes.
